Helping Girls Build the Skills to Become Who They Were Created to Be.
Our mission is to provide meaningful, engaging experiences that support girls in developing confidence, life readiness, social intelligence, academic and creative skills, healthy relationships, and greater awareness of their future possibilities.
Through workshops, labs, and multi-week programs, girls are given opportunities to learn by doing, practice new skills, explore their identities, and recognize their own potential.
Why We Exist
There Are Important Things Girls Need to Learn That Do Not Always Fit Into the School Day.
Schools carry an enormous responsibility for educating young people.
But some of the lessons that shape a girl's future happen beyond textbooks and tests.
How do I communicate when something bothers me?
How do I handle conflict without losing myself?
How do I recognize my strengths?
How do I take care of myself and my environment?
How do I turn an idea into something real?
What careers exist beyond the ones I already know?
How do I advocate for myself?
How do I make wise decisions when an adult is not standing beside me?
These skills matter.
Created to Be exists to intentionally create space for girls to learn them.
The Whole-Girl Approach
Growth Is Bigger Than Academics.
We believe girls thrive when their academic development is supported alongside their social, emotional, practical, creative, and personal development.
That is why our programs are designed around six areas of growth:
Confidence & Identity
Helping girls understand themselves, recognize their strengths, develop self-confidence, and become comfortable using their voices.
Life Readiness
Giving girls practical skills and knowledge that support greater independence, responsibility, decision-making, and everyday capability.
Communication & Social Intelligence
Helping girls navigate friendships, boundaries, conflict, collaboration, communication, and relationships with greater awareness.
Academic & Creative Development
Creating opportunities to strengthen literacy, critical thinking, problem-solving, curiosity, creativity, and engagement with learning.
Career & Future Awareness
Exposing girls to careers, entrepreneurship, leadership, goal-setting, and possibilities for their futures.
Connection & Well-Being
Creating supportive environments where girls feel seen, valued, encouraged, and connected to caring adults and their peers.
How We Teach
Girls Learn Best When They Get to Participate.
Created to Be is not designed around long lectures.
Our girls discuss.
They create.
They write.
They practice.
They solve problems.
They collaborate.
They make decisions.
They present.
They reflect.
They build.
Every program is designed to turn important developmental concepts into experiences girls can understand, practice, and carry with them beyond the program.
Our Programs
Different Experiences. One Purpose.
Created to Be programming currently includes:

Programs can be offered as individual workshops, short-term series, or multi-week cohorts depending on the goals of the partner and the needs of the girls being served.
Our Founder
Created From a Belief in What Girls Can Become.
Created to Be was founded by LaGail Odoms, an educator, youth mentor, facilitator, and program creator with years of experience working with young people.
Her work with girls began with a simple recognition: young people often receive plenty of instruction about what they should accomplish, but far fewer intentional spaces to learn how to navigate life while becoming themselves.
Created to Be grew from the belief that girls deserve both.
They deserve preparation and possibility.
Structure and creativity.
Guidance and room to discover.
Academic support and real-life skills.
Most of all, they deserve adults and environments that remind them that who they are becoming matters.
What We Want Every Girl to Know
You Do Not Have to Have Everything Figured Out to Begin Becoming.
You are allowed to learn.
You are allowed to ask questions.
You are allowed to discover new things about yourself.
You are allowed to change your mind.
You are allowed to dream bigger.
You are allowed to practice until you become confident.
You are allowed to become.
And you were Created to Be more than one thing.
Our Promise
Confident. Capable. Connected.
We want every Created to Be experience to leave a girl with more than something fun she did that day.
We want her to leave with something she can carry.
A new skill.
A stronger voice.
A different way of thinking.
A greater sense of possibility.
A moment when she realized, “I can do this.”
That is the work.
That is Created to Be.
